Wilson360’s Cheryl Steelberg Inducted into the Communicators Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Cheryl Steelberg for being inducted into the TOCA Hall of Fame. The well-deserved honor was announced at the 35th annual meeting of the Turf and Ornamental Communicators Association (TOCA) held April 29-May 1, 2024, at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort in Henderson, NV.

The award was presented by Cindy Code, Executive Director of Project Evergreen and former Hall of Fame inductee, and Bruce Wilson, founder, Wilson360, and TOCA meeting speaker.

The TOCA Hall of Fame Awards Program recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the Association, and whose excellence and leadership have advanced the professionalism of communications across the green industry.

In his introduction, Bruce Wilson, who recruited Cheryl into the green industry from her position at UCLA’s Graduate School of Education, said, “I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside many great professionals in the landscape industry. Cheryl Steelberg is one of them. When I hired her, she did not know much about landscaping but today is one of, if not the best, landscape writers in the business. Her recognition as a Hall of Fame member is well-earned. I owe her a lot for the way she portrayed my companies and me in the press, which has been nothing short of the highest standard. And throughout, she has been an excellent thought partner.”

A professional with more than two decades delivering outstanding results, Cheryl is an experienced marketer, communicator, and business writer with a vast background in media, branding and public relations. She has built strong working relationships with top landscape industry CEOs, national business and green industry media, and media influencers to generate positive press for the Wilson organization and its clients. She says that she’s inspired by the purpose and lasting impact at the heart of the green industry, humbled by the recognition, and privileged to be a part of a talented, fun and motivated community whose outstanding work not only highlights the industry’s growth, but who represent the breadth of passion and intellectual strength of its media.

Prior to joining Wilson360, Cheryl held leadership positions in a diverse range of industries, including Director of Public Relations for ValleyCrest Companies, during which she served on the TOCA Board of Directors.

TOCA is the leading professional organization for communicators in the landscape, golf, irrigation, turf and lawn care industries, whose primary responsibilities are in turf and ornamental-related editorial positions or who work in non-commercial editorial positions in legislative affairs, public relations, and advertising.
